The International Society for Nephrology is looking for a Membership & Communications Director

Since its foundation in 1960, the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) has pursued the worldwide advancement of education, science and patient care in nephrology (the medical sub-specialty dealing with the Kidneys). The Society represents a wide international network and provides an efficient platform for timely scientific exchange, debate and dissemination between healthcare professionals around the world. It is also dedicated to addressing the disparity between the developing and developed worlds in the research, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of kidney disease.
The ISN has over 9,000 professional members from more than 126 countries. In addition, ISN closely collaborates with over 75 national and regional nephrology societies around the world, representing about 20,000 professionals. The ISN continues to develop and consolidate several programs, initiatives and partnerships that will help to further deliver on its two overarching goals: reducing the incidence and impact of kidney disease worldwide, and making the ISN the leading international organization for all issues related to the science and practice of nephrology. ISN also strives to advance nephrology worldwide through the help of its Membership, Publications,Meetings, ISN Global Outreach Programs, as well as concerted efforts such as World Kidney Day.
To manage the ISN member relationship, manage and develop ISN brand and communications aligned to the ISN mission and ensure the deployment and development of marketing support materials and communications.
Manage and develop the Membership & Communications team.
Improve performance of Membership & Communications team through regular evaluations of performance to push the boundaries of the team, minimize turnover, maximize efficiency and motivate team members to achieve the best for ISN communications within the assigned budget.
Provide guidance and support to team on how to best get specific jobs done.
Assign work and tasks to meet Membership & Communications related projects that come up.
Manage and solve work related issues.
Manage, develop and implement membership strategies in line with ISN mission and ISN leadership direction.
Identify new and engaging membership and communications activities to further expand of ISN’s mission and goals.
Provide strategic membership support.
Manage and support ISN membership retention strategy.
Develop an efficient and effective membership retention strategy and plan and ensure effective implementation by Membership Coordinator.
Provide guidance on membership-related questions and issues.
Support membership generation activities through the development of marketing materials and communications activities.
Manage and develop the ISN brand and identity across all programs, activities and events.
Maintain and ensure alignment of a consistent brand & identity across all marketing support materials and communications. All in-line with ISN’s mission.
Manage and develop a marketing support portfolio.
Manage Membership & Communications budgets.
Develop and incorporate communications from partners when requested.
Manage, develop and implement market, membership and satisfaction research/surveys amongst ISN members.
Monitor and adapt activities and communications depending on regular review of member research.
Provide ISN leadership with quarterly reports on membership statistics, including ROI of existing promotional activities.
Discuss year plan with Executive Director, in line with ISN strategy.
Provide active input to Executive Director in identifying new membership and communications strategies.
Provide support of and actively engage in the development of action plans of newly developed strategies / objectives (decided by Executive Committee and/or Executive Director).
Actively engage in ISN leadership meetings.
World Kidney Day
Assist in the relationship with the communications/PR agency.
Manage and develop ISN’s communications of WKD.
Programs and Education (Core Programs and Special Projects)
Ensure alignment with ISN membership and communication guidelines and strategy.
Support and advise on the promotion through ISN communication channels.
Project Supervision (guidance, planning, creative input):
ISN events attendance, promotions and campaigns
Affiliated Societies communications
ISN News, ISN Insight, ISN Connects, and other communication channels, including social media
Design and print of marketing materials (posters, brochures, leaflets, ads…)
Membership database, customer service, renewal campaigns
ISN website: ensure quarterly updates to ISN team and leadership on websites statistics (access, visits, most read pages, actions).
